Mostly, an ordinary Bach Strad 180ML / 37 with a Bach 10.5C mouthpiece. Most photos show him with a regular Bach mouthpiece, but sometimes it's a Megatone. He was a "Bach Artist."
He also played a French Besson. Sometimes he played an Olds Mendez 2 mouthpiece.
Late in his life, Conn-Selmer gave him a custom engraved presentation Bach Strad, and he played that horn sometimes, but his health was failing by then and I don't think he ever recorded with the presentation horn. _________________ '75 Bach Strad 180ML/37

Thanks so much mm55 and rothman for your responses. Surprised about the 10.5C but he sounded so good...whatever works I guess is always the answer. |

Sure thing theslawdawg...it is pretty informative. I know playing the right horn might not turn me into Lee Morgan but it is helpful as a guide. |

You're wrong...buying the right horn with the exact same mouthpiece will do just that.

I think it's the Yamaha "WB" (or, Wayne Bergeron, model) trumpet and the GR "Wayne Bergeron" model mouthpiece. So easy, even an old guy like me can recall his setup, haha! _________________ Best regards,
