Great reply. Don't know why I didn't think of Discogs. The Big Band Back in Town listed all the personnel.
I haven't found anything for Tempestuous Trumpet! |

One of my teachers shared a story about Mr. Glow. Shortly after arriving in NYC my teacher got called in to do some recording work. Upon arriving in the studio he was surprised to see Mr Glow. He asked the contractor "I thought I was called to play lead trumpet but I see Mr Glow is here.....am I still on this date?". The contractor said "Don't worry young man, Bernie is here all day. He gets paid no matter if he plays or not. He is our insurance policy at the studio......if someone cant play a part he will come in and take care of it. He could play anything".
That is one amazing reputation to have! |

There have been some amazing "dinosaur" memories in this topic. Thanks everyone. _________________ "There are two sides to a trumpeter's personality,

A couple of days ago I was fortunate to play a terrific concert with Dale Clevenger (about 4 decades as first horn in the Chicago Symphony-still sounds AMAZING, BTW) on 1st horn. He was talking about the first time he played a recording session with Bernie Glow. He said the commanding sound, flawless phrasing, and section leadership was exactly the same (adjusted for idiom) as he experienced on a daily basis with Mr. Herseth. _________________ Bach trumpet artist-clinician
