Hello, I am looking at a Getzen 3001 custom Doc Severinsen, it is in perfect condition and has absolutely no damage to it what's so ever. It sounds great, but i'm not sure what it should cost, I don't want to get ripped off if the guy is asking too much. If anyone knows what this horn should cost or the price range I would really appreciate it.

The trumpet says custom on the bell under the Doc's name, however it seems that on getzens website it is an artist model not a custom model so any help with that would be great. The serial number starts with SG....

It is a very fine instrument built to Doc's specs before he continued his safari with the German Destino, then the Kanstul Destino, and on to Shires. What is it worth to you? If you don't like the price make a lower offer or wait for another to show up at a price you like.

PS and it has those fantastic Getzen valves

The 3001 is still listed on Getzen's website, so I believe it is still available to order/purchase. I think that the list price is around $2,700 (and you could possibly negotiate a little bit off of that from the store).

Thus, if you are purchasing one used I'd say that you'd definitely not want to pay more than that.

Good luck!

Not sure about fair price on a used one, but I can tell you the 3001 Severinsen Custom and the 3001 Artist model are the same horn. The current production model has one change. No more gold trim. The price of gold just got to be too high and volatile so we dropped the gold trim and the price for 2020.

Being a big Getzen fan, I would love to own one someday.

Anyway, given the condition you describe, I would pay between $1,000-$1,200 for it. Perhaps more if I had more information.
