Afternoon everyone,
So got invited to play a piece at a couple churches on Christmas Eve this year. I have a great pianist to work with, and was wondering what are some pieces that you have done, that you have enjoyed. Kind of want to get away from the standard Christmas carol type of hymns and such and find something people have not heard before.
Thanks in advance for any and all ideas.

Maybe some of the following would help in thinking it through:
-Is this part of a standard service or are they doing something like a lessons and carols service?
-Are you going more for dark-mysterious or bright-expectant?
-Do you have some hymnals to look through?
-Could you cherry pick a less common but meaningful song from some other sources?
-What other songs are being played/sung?

Here's King's College Cambridge's list for their service--you might find a song in there that fits with the season but is less common.

I like Philip Smith's "Great Carols" book (arr. Curnow).

The Little Road to Bethlehem is a sweet motet and not well know. For solo voice, so transpose or play on. C trumpet.

I SECOND that recommendation...sophisticated, creative, fresh. :C)

Philip Smith's "Great Carols" book (arr. Curnow).
Book/CD pack features fresh settings of ten favorite Christmas carols, arranged by today's foremost composers. The CD contains both a sample performance of each solo, as well as an accompaniment-only track for practice or performance. Includes Angels We Have Heard on High; He Is Born; It Came Upon the Midnight Clear; Joy to the World; What Child Is This? and more.
A piano accompaniment book is available, sold separately, please see item 048643. CD features New York Philharmonic principal trumpeter Phil Smith performing each carol.

Depending on your audience and the musical setting, you might consider Hovhaness' Prayer of Saint Gregory
