I am looking for a small gig bag or soft case for a pocket trumpet. The idea is a bag that is as small as possible that covers the horn. So far my web searches have not been very fruitful.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I have a Carol Brass Pocket Trumpet. I got a Guard Mid-Suspension Cornet Gig Bag 503-MSK. At the time, MusiciansFriend had a special, and were selling them for $25.

This bag is somewhat larger than needed, so it may not be exactly what you're looking for. But the added size results in a bit more protection for the horn.

The Carol cloth bags are naturally pretty small. They came with my mini pocket and my C pocket. I think the Bb has a hard case.

I had the same horn and used the same gig bag as Mike. Worked fine. My biggest trip was to take it to Germany. I insured the horn and put it a gig bag and then in my suitcase.

Thanks for all the answers. pinstriper's solution might be the best for me for now. I just have to find one of those whiskey bags -- Probably means buying a nice bottle of whiskey for Christmas. Hmm ... not a bad idea.

We have a small cornet bag and a small piccolo bag that would probably work, and they are much more protective than most gig bags. Also, they won't fall apart.

Thank you. I am about to get on a plane for Japan, but I will check this out when I get back in a couple of weeks.

There are plenty of non-trumpet bags that would work.

I have mine in a camera bag. There's also fishing/tackle bags I've seen which would suit. This is way cheaper than a dedicated instrument bag.

I had a Taylor Pocket Rocket Pro pocket trumpet for a number of years. It was hilariously large for a "pocket trumpet," with a 5.25" bell and extremely tall valve cases (made taller by heavy bottom caps). I looked for years, and the only workable case solution I found was a Reunion Blues cornet gig bag -- except it was so much longer than needed that I could carry a harmon mute in the empty space behind the bell bow. With that particular horn I didn't really have to worry about all the empty space, because the large-diameter bell locked into the bell-end seam and the horn wouldn't slide around in the bag.

I've heard/read rumors of Cronkhite cornet bags being special-ordered short, for pocket trumpets. Just tossing that out there.
