Al Hirt on trumpet and his brother Gerald on Trombone. An entertaining 7 minutes video from 1962. Al’s playing a Martin Committee with a Jettone mouthpiece.

That was great! Thanks for posting! Boy could he play!
He was a master of lip slurs....Note the slight bit of valve-down slow slur at 1:21. Wow!

tptptp - he really is cranking. At this point in his career, I believe he could make his horn do anything. He was considered a prodigy from early on. There are technically better trumpeters, but Al could Entertain and that was what propelled him above others commercially.

markup - to the best of my knowledge he played a large bore.
