Dr. Gordon Mathie, professor emeritus of Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam passed away Dec 22 at age 95. He was one of the founding members of ITG in 1976. I was fortunate to have him as my teacher and mentor. |

Sad to hear, but that's a pretty impressive life. I met him once at master class and lunch afterwards. He was kind and generous to all of us. He said he pursued the EdD as his doctorate because he thought it would make him a better teacher than getting some other kind of doctorate. I'm glad he took up the trumpet. |

May he rest in peace (which by ironically does mean far, far away from the ITG conference). But I have a feeling if he's able to, his soul will be there. |
