To play classical music you'll have to be able to go into the sound concept of classical music.
If you can deliver this you can play classical music on many horns, I know trumpeters who play professional on a Yamaha 6310Z, Getzen 900 Eterna, Olds Recording, Vincent Bach 180-37, Vincent Bach 180-72, Vincent Bach Vindobona, Yamaha Xeno, Yamaha 6345, Yamaha 6335, Selmer Radial, Antoine Courtois mod. Roger Delmotte etc. etc.

All you need to have is a quality musical instrument + dedication

The one that sounds and plays the best for you. Start with those that are used most often like Bach or Yamaha. But by all means, try a variety of makes and models. And if at all possible, bring along someone who's opinion you value to listen to how you sound on the different horns.

Cost wise, there are a multitude of used horns that are available well within your budget.

Classical music? Symphony orchestra? North America? You'll want a C trumpet.
Used Yamaha 6445 HII is well within your budget.
You could probably find a used Bach large-bore 229A within your budget, too.

Yamaha 6310Z for classical? Must be some moderation brought about by mouthpiece choice. Do you know what that is?

Frits Damrow, 20 years ago principal trumpet player of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam played 6310Z, Oda von Hecke in the North Holland Philharmonic as well

And why not? It's a good sounding instrument, as is a Getzen 900 Eterna, Olds Recording, Bach Vindobona etc. etc.

It's the man behind the gun

Hands down, my Olds recording, except for I use it for everything (except marching band). It’s just got such a nice clean sound that I want when playing classical solos

Wow, thanks, Manuel.

FWIW, I have a Yamaha Z and it would not be my horn of choice for orchestra. Do you know what brand/model mouthpieces were used?

Back in "my day", to join a pro orchestra, I had to play a trumpet like all others in the section. The only brand was Bach, and it had to be a Bb, in silver. My only "choice" was which bell - and the only available for years to come was the 37. Soon after joining, I was "advised" to switch to the C trumpet, all other orchestras were adopting this as standard, again Bach. And, if anybody could not perform flawlessly with a Bach 1.5C, they were not considered. [I can tell you the auditions were tough.]

No regrets, for the horns and sound were superior to all others, then. But today, I would be hard pressed to choose from among the very many suitable brands. At the pro level, a horn is very much an extension of the player, so much time is needed to evaluate a horn.

I think, though, I would not choose Yamaha. I have trialled various Yamahas since 1972, and have never found them to be suited to me.

Brands for orchestra I would consider today, off-the-shelf, are Bach, Schilke, Stomvi, Adams.

happy hunting!

Bach large bore 229 seems a perennial favorite. If you try enough used ones you might find a good player in your budget.

Bb or C trumpet? solo or orchestral playing? Are you adult or student? Specific answers require specific questions.

If you are a student and intend to go to music school, find out what the trumpet professor at your choice of schools favors.
