Re-building a Strad

I'm interested in getting my 1977 Bach Strad 37 ML rebuilt by Andy Taylor.

I'm curious if anyone has had their Strad 'hybridized' by Andy? If so, what he did to it? Was there an appreciable difference?

I have been absolutely amazed by what Taylor's shop can do - though I have never seen a Strad worked on there and have trouble imagining why one would mix classic architecture and leading edge design together.

While I can think of several shops that do transformative work on Bachs in the US, they improve them to be a better Bach (Jim Becker at Osmun, Robb Stewart in CA, Mark Metzler in Elkhart, Rich Ita in GA). If only seeking an overhaul, those would be more cost-effective options. If seeking to, as you said, hybridize, then I cannot think of anyone who's original work has impressed me more than Andy Taylor.

I'm just having trouble visualizing what you would look to have done to hybridize a 37 with the sort of contemporary elements Taylor specializes in . . . .

Charlie Melk, now also in Georgia, can do just about anything to a Bach horn to improve it. Or you can buy one of his custom horns, which is like a super-Bach.
