Has anyone played the B&S Model 3116/2 Challenger Professional Eb/D? How is compared to Schilke E3L? |

Hi,
Yes I own a 3116/2 and bought it instead of the Schilke. Schilke are fabulous instruments, nobody could argue that, but for me personally I find them just too bright, verging on shrill. As I say, that is personal experience and millions of others sound fantastic on Schilke. The B&S is slightly heavier, especially the bell so for me has a darker sound, more like what I’m looking for.
Hope this helps

I hadn't noticed the trend, but after looking at the poster's profile I see what you mean.
However, based on the poster's signature he appears enjoy B&S instruments. Nothing wrong with that. And perhaps having someone on the board who knows the product line will add to our discussions as have others like VetPsychWars who is our Buescher aficionado and expert. |
