Hey gold plated horn owners. What are your thoughts on keeping the gold horn in a special "safe bag" that has an anti-tarnish cloth lining... they claim it helps the silver tarnish from coming up through the gold???. Is that a problem with gold horns? Do you know anything about these bags and are they recommended?
John Ogilbee from (works at Taylor Trumpets) makes them and sells them on ebay.

Thanks!

I store all my silver horns in anti tarnish bags. I made them myself.

I can’t imagine they would do any harm to any trumpet. My understanding is that the material interacts with the sulphur in the air preventing it from reaching the silver and causing tarnish (silver sulfide).

John’s bags are very well made. I can’t speak for gold, but I use them with all of my horns. An extra layer of protection when cased or in a gig bag or left on a stand in my music room.

Three year-old thread.

I need an anti-tarnish bag.
This old thread recommended John Ogilbee bags, but I can't find him on ebay, facebook, or google.
Any suggestions on getting one of his bags, or recommendations for another brand?
Thanks.

There's a seller on Etsy, and also mouthpieceexpress sells one, here's the link.

I use these in my trumpet cases and they solved my tarnishing issues. It's not a bag, but I had an issue with silver and brass tarnishing that these solved.

Herpderp,

I watched the video and they are putting those strips inside a bag, are you just setting the strip inside the case?
