This came up in another thread and I'm wondering who has experience with Chase Sanborn's "Brass Tactics 6/60?"
Could you share your experience and how it's helped you develop routine? _________________ Kevin |

I was going to buy it until I found out he charges $15 for shipping. I'll let you borrow it if I end up getting it. |

But it's hand-delivered.
There's a series of videos on Chase Sanborn's "Brass Tactics 6/60" you might be interested in. _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird

If it helps you to any degree it's worth many times the cost. Think about the cost of just one lesson. Chase Sanborn is an exceptional player with a very intelligent approach and he is very open minded. Watch some of his videos. I think you will be impressed. _________________ HERMOKIWI |

Hi All
I bought the book and started working through it. I may have misinterpreted the instructions. I was trying to play the octave or low the pedal C. At the time I was having chop difficulties and the elephant darts killed me. |

I would guess that it’s a pretty heavy book. Add the cost of shipping materials and a bit of a handling fee to cover the time it takes to pack and ship. It seems high for modern times but there’s no music store near me and it saves me a 45 minute trip, one way. _________________ Kevin |

As an owner of a business that ships chili mix to customers throughout the US, I can't begin to tell you what a challenge shipping is. I'm fortunate that I'm able to use the USPS Priority Mail one-price boxes for my retail customers. Nevertheless, the shipping fees are onerous and they keep increasing every couple of months. My profits, not great to begin with, are diminished because I subsidize the shipping costs because they seem so unreasonable.

Note Chase is in Canada so has the exchange rate working against him as well... Add $15 to the cost and it's still a great book to have. _________________ "After silence, that which best expresses the inexpressible, is music" - Aldous Huxley |

We here living in Australia can only dream of such an item being posted for ONLY $15!
That's super-cheap for us... |

That's not the item, that's the postage. _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird

If you can afford it ($100 USD for 75 min), take a lesson with Chase to help you apply the exercises in the book. I just had a lesson with him on pedal tones, and it helped me customize the exercise to my way of thinking & playing. It also helped me realize that book exercises aren't carved in stone. We also worked on whisper tones. It really helps to hear him, discuss it, and get immediate feedback.
If you do set up a lesson with him, it helps to send him specific questions in advance, to focus the time.

That's a great suggestion! And the rate is totally reasonable. _________________ Kevin |

Just out of curiousity, does anyone know if these books would be available for purchase as a PDF?
I'd like to buy the Brass Tactics as well as the Brass Tactics 6/60 books, but looking at $50 shipping to the land of Aus!
If anyone knows that'd be great, if not I'll see if I can get in touch with the man himself! _________________ Schilke Soprano Cornet, Beryllium Bell

According to one of the FAQ's on his web site, the book is not available as a .pdf file. _________________ Ray Ritchie
