Hi again. A little while back I decided to sell my 1964 Ambassador cornet, and look for a vintage pro cornet instead. It just so happens within about two weeks I found a 1941 Holton Model 29 cornet on EBay, with the seller asking for someone to "Make an Offer," so I did, and got it.

The horn is the "higher-end" version of that model, having brass with nickel trim, plus the top portions of its valves' block are nickel. It is a nice looking horn overall, with its lacquer being about 65- 70% complete, and the remaining lacquer having toned a nice golden color. I haven't been able to really play it yet, as I need to get a Bach 1C cornet mp (my size I play), plus the horn needs a few minor repairs done to it, which I plan to have done to it this week.

Does anybody have experience playing this horn, or any advice to me regarding playing it? I have heard it is a great jazz horn.

I will try to post a link to view pictures of it later on.

I had one. Thought it to be ok. Overall very nice instrument as are all Holtons. Just wasn’t for me. Mine was a 1945 model 29

Finally got my "new" vintage Holton back from the repair shop, now all fixed, refurbished, and working fine. It plays with a dark, sweet, smooth sound and feel, and seems like an ideal jazz horn. I love playing it!

Here is my Flicker account link with the pictures I just took of my it, in case anyone would like to see it (all original finish, untouched):
