|

I'm a pretty strong player and improving almost everyday. I do lots of mouthpiece/lip buzzing and I'm super happy with my current routine, but I've been trying to add in some leadpipe buzzing and boy does it throw me off. I hear all these stories about it centering people and making playing more effortless but whenever I leadpipe buzz I can't play out of the staff very well for the rest of the day. I feel like I play pretty relaxed in the first place but the leadpipe buzzing takes it too far and I don't feel like I have anything left to push against if that makes sense. I have had plenty of students find success with the leadpipe so maybe it's just me. I'm about ready to give it up which isn't really a big deal since my routine keeps me pretty consistent, but before I do, does anyone have any pointers? Am I missing something here? |

Well, without hearing what you are doing (which means I'm blind here), I can't imagine that 2 or 3 minutes a day of ANYTHING would be enough to confuse my chops.
I'd be interested in seeing and hearing what you are doing and how you are doing it. There are now a lot of people posting "leadpipe drills" on the internet that are absolutely antithetical to how Adam students do it. _________________ Bach trumpet artist-clinician

That's more or less what I do as I well. I don't try and get fancy with it.
I would be open to a Skype lesson if you think that will help but can you give some pointers on what the correct approach is? I'm not doing anything special at all. |

Obviously, PH is the go-to man for all things related to Adam Routine. |

This is an example of an approach that (while obviously successful for this person) has very little to nothing in common with the pedagogy of William Adam and his students.

I’m good if you want to remove or relocate the post. Didn’t realize I had placed it in a dedicated forum. |

De nada.
Actually, as long as we don't go deeply down a rabbit hole, I find it helpful to leave it so it demonstrates that "leadpipe buzzing" as is being advocated by many now has little or nothing to do with Adam's pedagogy. _________________ Bach trumpet artist-clinician
