|
|
I'm ordering a Schilke C5-4 piccolo trumpet. I would like to get a case, or bag, for transporting it to church, gigs, etc., and not have it get damaged.
I was hoping other Schilke piccolo trumpet players could tell me what they use?

Why not take a look at some camera/accessory bags at Best Buy or some other electronics store. Great for those gigs where you're just playing pic. _________________ Bill Siegfried

My P5-4 resides in either my old Bach double case (its mate there is my Schilke E3L-4), or it goes in the center section of my Reunion Blues Leather Triple Bag.
If I was going someplace with just the Pic, I'd carry it in my Reunion Blues Leather Cornet bag. Reunion Blues used to offer a specific Piccolo Trumpet case - too bad they dropped it (and too bad they outsourced their business to China).
Best wishes,

Presently I'm using the Schilke hard double case. It has a wedge to prevent movement but the case is very heavy and I question it's shock absorption if it gets dropped. I'm looking to get a Protec ipac triple or quad with backpack straps. |

Either an old ProTec double case (that I no longer see advertised) or a ProTec iPac triple. |

I like this case which was made by Protec for Schilke but I was told by Jim at Dillon that it is no longer available. If it is available please let me know. |

I used to have a Schilke hard piccolo case for this horn but it was so heavy I got rid of it.
For transport of only the piccolo, a Pro-Tec cornet case works great. Can be purchased new for around $100.00
Great protection and a side pouch for mp's etc.
Very light as well.

The C5-4 is a herald wrap, not the same wrap as the P5-4. It may not quite fit in the same cases which are designed for the P5-4.
For my P5-4 I use a Marcus Bonna case. Your piccolo might need to take a slot in a larger multiple case to be secure, I am not sure if a dedicated case is made for the C5-4 unless Schilke can make one for you. _________________ Charles Russell Roberts

+1.
As I posted many times before, I use the Protec as cornet/piccolo/C-rotary single case.
It's also well worth spending the extra $15 on the back-pack straps.

For what it’s worth, I was looking for a case for my P5-4 and discovered that the new Bach Artisan double case does work, however, the slot in the bottom pushes the 3rd valve water key open.
The P5-4 will fit nicely in the newer Bach single cases either in the main slot or (with some padding) in the front accessories compartment. _________________ Life's a journey, not a destination. |

Nice horn. Funny, it does not appear on the Schilke website that I can find. It does appear on their Facebook site though. Looks like a standard trumpet case would be your best bet. I have a double Yamaha hard case in which I keep a Bb and a bugle. It might fit the bill. Standard case with many Yamaha trumpets, so you should be able to find one inexpensively. _________________ Bb: Schilke X3L AS SP, Yamaha YTR-6335S

Hello Rooster,
You are one lucky guy to have that problem!!!!!!Since the bell is detachable, you have been given many good options. Schilke cases are wonderfully made. They just are really heavy. I have single, double and quad, Schilke made cases. When I have a long trot to get to the venue, I would usually use an older Yamaha double case. They are light and not bulky, but they still are a squarish case with no strap. _________________ Christian K. Peters
