Well, having been learning the cornet for a little while I started to get the urge to buy a trumpet. Because I like the mellower sound of the cornet to the brighter top end of the trumpet, I had a chat with a dealer and ended up ordering a custom trumpet. It was more expensive than I had intended to go for but it should be lovely when it arrives in a couple of months.
Now I really have to get on an take this seriously to justify buying such a special instrument! |

Well, don't just tease us....what did you order, from whom, what did it cost you?

Oh yea. I can identify but qualify it by saying it is not just true of musical instruments but of hunting and fishing gear, collectibles, etc. You read about something or see something for sale and when you are along the sirens start singing to you from the rocks. If you are lucky you get the item lusted after before crashing on the rocks. Still, if you have the money and the choice why not have a custom trumpet, you know? _________________ "There are two sides to a trumpeter's personality,

Well, as I have a love of Levantine Arabic music I really wanted a quarter tone cornet but this was just a bit too far so I ended up ordering a CarolBrass quarter tone trumpet but in mostly red brass with a large wide throat bell. All of that should give a nice mellow sound. As for the cost, not as bad as it could have been but more than likely had intended to spend but I figured that I deserve it. 🤪 |

That's O.K., You know that in playing Levantine Arabic music you'll earn a lot more money than you paid. _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird

Well, that would be a bonus, although I'm doing this for the love of it rather than making money. Any extra is good though! |
