Just wondering if anyone knows if anyone makes a removable pinky hook for some of the older horns that don’t have them?

Why not have someone install one? Some of the Yamaha pinky hooks (especially older ones) look ok on older horns. This would especially be true if you are talking about the curved section of a cornet leadpipe. a clamp wont work there

Most shops will have the bracket for the adjustable third slide ring. They could install one for you.

There are 2 sizes - the smaller diameter size that you see on most Bach and American makers. The Yamaha ones are bigger.

Allied has parts for both sizes, that, like I said - most shops should have in stock or at least access to.

I put a standard pinky hook on my 1925 Conn 28B Concert Grand using some metallic silver tape and backed it up with a nylon zip tie just for safety's sake. I didn't want to solder it on because I wanted to keep the old girl without damage if I wanted to remove the hook. It worked great and I've had no problems.

Since you said "hook" I assumed it was for your right and. Most teachers advise not to use that bc you can tend to pull the horn toward your mouth. Most just let their pinky sit on top of it. I don't even rest my pinky on it.

I put the pinky hook on to facilitate mute changes in our big band

I don’t use it to pull the horn back. My old Conn never had a pinky hook, as is true for many horns of that era. It does have a 3rd slide ring.

That metallic tape is great stuff. It's strong and doesn't creep over time like the non-metallic duct tape.

Proper trumpet term is "octave key"

I have a '46 and '51 (mint-hardly played). I love them. I tried the short shenk Yamaha 11C4 bc the horn originally came with a short shenk (Conn) the regular shenk though really improves the sound. Its a close second to my Strad 184SMLG and in some ways better. I played dozens of vintage horns. Even the King Master Model that Conn Copied comes up short.

Weird little pieces of trumpet/cornet history, huh? I got this out of an eBay grab bag buy from back in the day. It's been sitting in my parts cabinet for a while.
