I met Maurice Andre around 84-85 in NYC. He was guest soloist with the 92nd St. YMHA Orchestra. Gerard Schwarz was conducting.
After the concert I was heading to the bathroom and Maurice was standing all by himself nearby. I approached and asked him to autograph my program. He was very gracious and spoke a little English. He had changed clothes and was wearing a bolo tie. Looked good on him.
To this day I've never heard a sound so pure and beautiful come out of a trumpet. |
