4 Ways to Use Fringe Sewing Foot

If you really like to add cool things to your sewing kits then the fringe foot is one of them. A fringe foot is also known as the looper foot. You have no idea what you can do with the zigzag stitches. You can decorate a lot with the zigzag stitch as well as can provide strength to the fabric. Remember to choose the top sewing machines for beginners if you want to achieve the best results for your sewing projects.

If you have a fringe foot but don’t know how you can use it, we are telling you today 4 different ways through which you can use the fringe foot professionally. You are definitely going to love the working and mechanism of the foot.

Eyelash Fringe:

Eyelash fringe is one of the most amazing and stylish looks you can try. You can make eyelash fringe in two ways. If you have a sewing machine which has an overcast stitch option then you have to use that option. Then start sewing in the chenille style and you will be done with the beautiful eyelash fringe. This two-sided fringe style will look amazing on the dress.

Eyelash Fringe Sewing Foot

If you don’t have an overcast stitch option then you have to use the straight stitch row one more time. In this way, you will be able to achieve the right kind of fringe without worrying about the overcast option in your machine. To lock the stitch in the end, you have to use the triple straight lock stitch so the fringe can be strong and there will be no distortion in the middle.

For the eyelash fringes, you can turn your tension settings into auto or normal, based on your requirement. At the time of cutting eyelash fringe, you don’t have to use the long scissor, use the smallest scissor you have to avoid excessive cutting of the thread. Once you are done with the cutting, turn the fringes to the right side.

Faux Hemstitching:

With just a little effort you can create this faux hemstitching and it can make your project look extraordinary. It will give a professional and wow factor to the fabric and you will be moving towards the advanced level of sewing. This type of seam is used to join the two layers of clothing like the sleeves or hem of the skirt. At the time of joining the layers together, it will look like you have done the embroidery.

The trick you have to use here is to maintain the consistent distance between the stitches. By indulging yourself in constant practice, you will be able to do it perfectly in no time. The faux hemstitching looks like an embroidery by hand but in reality, you can complete this one in a few minutes. The look will be amazing and the finishing will be up to the mark. You can use toilet paper beneath the fabric to provide the stability and strength to the faux hemstitching.

You can read many reviews on easy to use sewing machine for beginners for more information on the sewing models. Using a good sewing machine that can perform these hemming stitches is as important as using the right sewing technique.

Chenille Effect:

This is the easiest style you can go for while using the fringe foot. The look will be impressive and will add beauty to the edges of the dress. As this one is quite simple so you don’t have to work hard on forming it. By forming the arc on the top you have to leave the stitches intact and it will prominent the shape details. You have to sew straight lines next to each other to make it look heavy in appearance.

For the heavy look, you can use a triple or straight zigzag based on your requirements. The stitch length should be 0-0.5 and the stitch width should be 3-5. Hold down the tail of the thread and start sewing with the help of a fringe foot. Don’t pull the thread from the bobbin and cut the thread. Repeat the sliding process in your work.

Fringe/Looping Presser Foot

In this style, you can play with zigzag stitches as much as you can. You can go for the regular style and triple stitch style too. This style is best when you want to start with some simple fringe.

Eyelash Loops:

For the eyelash loops, you have to follow the chenille style instructions here. Start the work by stitching a line of zigzag. Later you need to turn the fabric so you can face the wrong side of the fabric near the seam. You need to make sure that this is the exact side of the fabric where you need to start the triple line stitching. As we have done above, you need to lock the thread tail by using a straight stitch.

Now you just have to pull the whole look to the right side and you will be done with the eyelash loop. This one is amazing if you will use it on the edges of the sleeves and at the collar of the shirt. This fringe style seems to be amazing when you will use it with heavy strength.

Play with Fringe:

You can just not try these above-mentioned fringes but you can also play a lot with the footer with different styles. It can just not help in creating the fringes but it can also help in making the loops. You can start using this footer by creating small fringes and loops on the shirts and pants. Once you will be an expert, then you can start applying this trick to the other projects which are professional for the fashion experiment.

Conclusion

There are so many footers out there that can be a great collection in your sewing kit. The fringe foot will add coolness to your outfits and you can also try it in your stoles. Yes....playing a wind instrument can be a big help with asthma and I have taught several sufferers with some good results. How good depends on how open their minds are and whether their medical advisers are predujiced against the idea.

The best basic excercise is also the best for beginning healthy players too, namely the 'purple air' drill...this is actually a yoga breathing technique but it is sometimes helpful to NOT mention that as people can, for some reason, find that a hinderance to their open mindedness and thus progress......I was once told that "yoga is heathen mumbo jumbo"....so jsut keep an open mind and get on with your progress!

Stand with feet apart the width of shoulders, close eyes and start to breathe in slowly. As you do visualize that you can see and watch the air filling your body from you feet upwards.....imagine that the air is purple, as this help with the visualization. 'Watch' the air level rising to the highest point you can reach, and then try for one last breath..........

Try to do this with the minimum stress or straining....that will be difficult in the beginning but if you persevere you wil be gaining increasing control of your breathing.

..........Hold for a moment and then allow the air to flow slowly back out as you watch the level of purple air drop down your body and back to your feet.

This is a wonderful excercise for everybody not just musicians or those with breathing difficulties. However, it is VERY useful for beginning brass players because it is the start of building a good diaphramatic breathing regimen which will give good control and also power and endurance.

When I taught young brass players we held a knock-out contest every month to see who could hold a mid C the longest...to do this you stsrt the note and then 'watch' the purple air slowly leaving the body and filling the instrument as quietly as you can manage. Good operators can manage more than half a minute. This additional excercise is great for teaching 'ppp' playing.

You WILL need to talk to your doctor about this, as we don't know anything about your asthma, especially if it is exercise induced... After that, if you are good to go, just play and do not worry about it. Your breathing will develop if you go to a good teacher.

cheers

For what it's worth, I've noticed (for myself at least) that you don't really need a lot of air (force) to produce sound. If at any point blowing through your trumpet takes a lot of effort (or say, you feel you need to push it into your face to get to the higher notes), you're actually doing it wrong.

You can actually experience this yourself with the following trick (courtesy of Bill Adam):

Remove your tuning valve from your trumpet so you'll only play on your leadpipe. Take off your mouthpiece and blow through it gently without buzzing (i.e. just air, no sound). Now put it onto your leadpipe while blowing and you'll notice it'll produce a sound as soon as the mouthpiece is fixed on the leadpipe. That shows little effort playing really takes.

I've found leadpipe buzzing very useful to work on my tone with finesse rather than power.

Hatha Yoga is all about breathing. Find a book, or better yet a class.
