It is with heavy hearts that we share our decision to cancel our previously announced 2020/21 season of concerts. All of us here at the TSO—musicians, artists, and staff—feel your disappointment. Performing is the life-blood of who we are—and that is why we remain fiercely committed to bringing live performances to our audiences as soon as it is possible and safe to do so, as health regulations allow.
We plan to perform in smaller ensembles across the GTA, including at our home, Roy Thomson Hall, for audience sizes aligned with health regulations. In collaboration with the musicians of the TSO, Music Director Gustavo Gimeno is developing programs that are reflective of the current environment. He wants to “ignite a passion for extraordinary music in more intimate settings and to connect with our patrons in unique ways.”
Our musicians will continue to perform virtual concerts for you—so be sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Since the beginning of the pandemic, our virtual concerts and events have been viewed over 2 million times!
While we redefine what this coming year will look like for all of us, we can also look further ahead to what we believe will be a monumental 100th season in 2021/22. We are very happy to share that some of our favourite offerings—including Yo-Yo Ma and our Star Wars film performances—have been rescheduled to be part of our 100th season.
We would like to thank our community for your support and commitment. We look forward to seeing you soon.
