|
|
Hello fellow trumpeteer s I came across a strange find it is a Bach Mt. Vernon 3C trumpet mouthpiece trumpet mouthpiece brand new in the traditional black&whitevVincent
Bach stradivariuses boxes with unnopened plastic wrap genuine Elkhart, Indiana on the box. The Mouthpiece is stampped Vnicent Bach corp Mt Vernon 3C since I don't play any more I was hoping an expert can tell me if this mouthpiece has any value and how much I should ask for it? Thank you all |

Hmmm....
Giakara's value assessment is probably pretty good. However....
I remember there was a thread a while back were there were fake Mt Vernon mouthpieces showing up in "old stock, new boxes." However, they got many of the details wrong and exposed themselves as not genuine. I wonder...
The thing that is making me wonder is:
- I don't think they bothered with plastic wrap in 1960. Seriously.
- The box wouldn't say Elkhart, Indiana. The heritage of the Mt. Vernon mouthpieces are they were made by the Vincent Bach company when it was owned by Vincent Bach. When it was owned by Vincent Bach, the company was based in New York and then later in Mt. Vernon, New York. Not Indiana.
Pictures can help clear this up. _________________ LA Benge 3X Bb Trumpet

Giakara that one looks fake. The markings are not correct. On my Mt Vernon 3C there are NO periods anywhere. On this one there are periods and a comma. Buyer beware. |

I’ve seen genuine ones both ways, some with punctuation, others without. Probably has to do with when they were made. _________________ "Brass bands are all very well in their place - outdoors and several miles away ." - Sir Thomas Beecham |

O.P. thank you all for your input. Based on all your comments I conclude that the mothpiece I have is a fake Chinese knock off and not aurhentic there is no N.Y!. After Mt.Vernon and the vintage orange and white box isn't included instead is the typical black &white with plastic wrapper which makes it n.ot correrect for the time period. Thank you all also it says Elkhart.Indiana on the box also bogus. |

Of 3 I have, none has a comma. One has 3 periods. Mine are all from goodwill buys, so lesser chance of fake. But they are all 10 1/2C, which is apparently much less valuable than the 3C. |

I’ve had a couple like this, and can confirm the “.” And “,” can appear on the same authentic MV mouthpieces. The fake ones circulating last year cut out a few words, and I believe had totally different lettering. The one in the ebay auction looks replated, but a genuine Bach Mt Vernon mouthpiece. _________________ Hunter Eberly
