He has an unusual standing posture in both of these videos - it kind of reminds me of sword fighting. Does anyone know what the story behind that is? |

Great. But credit goes to Jim Wilt for coming up with the idea first.
Enjoyed both of them. _________________ Bb: Schilke X3L AS SP, Yamaha YTR-6335S

No, but I'm going to go try it out right now. I'll try anything! _________________ Craig Mitchell |

Listened to this last night. Really great stuff.
I will be curious what Steve A finds out about the playing stance. _________________ Bb: Schilke X3L AS SP, Yamaha YTR-6335S

A teacher once suggested something similar to me. It was kind of a relaxed version of one of the classical ballet positions (3rd?). The leg turns outward from the hip. The idea was that it was supposed to create the most stability with the least amount of tension or effort.
FWIW

This is just amazing, seeing and hearing him play the etudes that we all play (and I struggle through). Love Jens’ comment on No 2. |
