you guys and girls give me your pros and cons on the case.
Also, who has the best price on one, hopefully better than the $215 at WWBW!

They're also $215 at http://www.bandandorch.com/catalog/brasscase.html
That's the lowest I could find. _________________ Jim Hatfield

Super protection. But if you have gear other than your trumpet and a mouthpiece you should keep looking. I was kery happy with mine, but it was cot very convinient considering the music you may need or valve oil etc. _________________ Andrew Fowler

I have the single case that you are probably referring to. I also paid $215. As SHS said, it is very good protection, plus, light weight, compact, and easily transported. I like it a lot for what it does. It can hold a mouthpiece or two, small valve oil & grease, leadpipe swab, and a cloth OK, but not much more. If you need or want to carry two horns, mutes, music, or more thab the basic, they do make larger cases, but they are more expensive. Just on visuals & descriptions, I like the WJ case better than the Wiseman cases. My only complaint with the WJ case is that it doesn't lock; but I suppose you could throw a lock around the two handles, effectively locking it. |

My WT came with one, and I really like it. It supports the horn extremely well -- the horn doesn't move in the case. This is key to keeping your horn intact if (when?) it's dropped or banged on something (I usually have a bag and two cases rushing out the door Sunday morn, and 2 out of 3 times I meet Mr. Doorframe on the way out...) And, the fiberglass outside will take a beating! Plus, Walt is a super guy and great player. I had a problem with mine (a bad build -- he thought he got 'em all, but mine slipped through, which tells you something about my luck) and he swapped it pronto and with sincere apologies. Plus, I got to here about his latest superhorn (no, not a WT), to boot!
There are pictures on Walt's site of some really great cases, held up by some not too shabby players...
I haven't tried a Wiseman, Torpedo, or other so can't compare to similar "super" cases.

Man, bit the bullet and ordered my Walt Johnson case. Boy is that a lot of $$$ for a case, but for peace of mind I guess it's worth it. And I hope it's the last case I'll need to buy for some time to come.

I think these cases are so attractive and I only hear great things about them! GRRRR...only if I had the 300+ to drop on a double case for my Bb and C trumpets...they deserve only the best protection, but......a gig bag is easier to carry. _________________ Aaron G.

What's the value of a Walt Johnson trumpet case? I am looking for one and want to know what a reasonable price to pay. |

Hard to say. They used to fetch $300-400 used.
But, since they are close to being in production again, doubtful you’d get the higher prices. |

Thanks, Tim. My sax case was bullet-proof. Great for touring, especially if you have to baggage-check it. Can't connect to any of the links, though.
I get the impression that they're still developing them (as they have been doing for some time) but not commercially available. _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird

I’ve done a few Facebook PM’s with his FB page, whoever is answering told me about a month ago that sometime late this summer is possible. No word on prices, I didn’t ask. I hope they hit the market, I think I’ll probably get in line for one.

If it doesn't work out, I can recommend ProTec. They make very solid cases and they're a bit cheaper too. |

Which Pro-Tec are you referring to? I don't know of any that substitute for a Johnson. Those things are built like tanks. _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird
