Does anyone know what the ”77” stands for?

It's a backbore number. Older standard-weight Prana mouthpieces often had the 77 backbore. These days they more commonly have an 82 backbore.

Different mouthpieces can have different backbores at different times for different reasons.

Thanks for the reply! Do you know what the differences between them are? And if I have an older B4 WITHOUT any numbers designating the backbore- which one is it then?

Happy to help.

A larger number is a wider taper and a smaller number is a more narrow taper.

The Classic (non-Prana) mouthpieces do not have backbore numbers stamped or engraved on them. If there is no number on it I have no way of knowing exactly what it is. As I mentioned in my previous comment, different mouthpieces can have different internal specs for different reasons and at different times when they were made.

I assume that the one with '77' is a Prana. Prana mouthpieces will either have 'PRANA' stamped/engraved on it or will have the letter P after the size. If it is a Prana then it has a larger throat and backbore than a Classic (non-Prana).

Thanks again!

Looking forward to try them both, and see/play/hear if there's a difference.
