I was listening to Ella sings the Cole Porter Songbook Vol 2 and was struck by her backup. Recorded in Hollywood in 1956 with great section work, trombone solo and lead trumpet (Gozzo?) Some cuts were full big band, some just strings and rhythm and one was trombones and rhythm. I was born 30 years too late.
Anybody have a handle on the studio roster way back then? |
