For all of you, who use a Reeves 42M as an allround crossover mouthpiece: which backbore works best on the M-cup? Thanks for your experiences!

For me, the standard #2. Dialing in the gap for your horn might be a more important variable. Call them up, talk with John Snell.

Ed knows a LOT about mouthpieces. And trumpets, too.

I don't, but I have the best Reeves M (and I've had a few in the last few years) that has the 692 backbore, and it's fantastic for me. It's also cut for sleeves, which, as Ed mentioned above, let's one 'dial in' to the right gap... It's about as shallow as I like for cups. On a big, free-blowing horn it lets me relax and handle it. When I want to use my upper register (what there is that I possess), the 42M is just a great piece. I'll add that I use a 41 rim, but I like the 42 cup better.

I also second John Snell as a contact; usually quick to respond and a super helpful guy.

Good advises above , M cup for me works better with 2 bbore specially if you come from a Bach mpc and 692 if you want a darker sound concept, avoid the 69 becose this bbore works well and balanced only with #28 bore ( in my oppinion) , the tight 692s and 692sL are very special bbores that works great with shallow cups for commercial and lead purposes.

Regards
