I'm wondering if Mr. Wendt (or anyone else here) has tried this out and could comment on how it compares to a pixie mute.

H and B makes a metal version. One in black is sitting here in front of me on my desk.

I think I got confused by the conflicting title and posting. The title says pixie, which I do have in metal, and solotone in the message, which I do NOT have in metal. Sorry for my confusion.

The Conn mutes do show up on eBay from time to time. I've seen them, so they aren't rare exactly. I think the Wick sounds interesting, but I wonder how far out it sticks. The torpedo mute in the video sounds neat. I wonder how many of those are out there.

Anyone knows what a "torpedo mute" is? Never saw one, but it figures in a score I recently got...
Thanks so much!

The Tom Crown Pixie mute is the best that I have tried. Miles better than the H&B.

It is much longer and narrower than the H&B, so inserts further into the bell, but doesn’t protrude.

I haven’t got a Wick D straight to compare it with ‘tho.
