repair olds

I have a olds trumpet serial 717566 about a69 or70 my tuning slide is toast it has arip tear across 90% of slide . my local repair shop says they cant fix it Ineed anew slide however if they can find one the cost will liky be more the cost of the trumpet I think a smart tech could fix desoder the straith parts and make or find a curve tube for the rest making a curved little pipe cant be that hard a plumber could do it what do you think?

fullerton calif the shop just called and they found a slide repair and slide $150 est. I told them to wait before repair thank you r doyle
