Good video, and helpful information.
An additional consideration for me is that when playing 'vocal pieces' as an 'instrumental' that in many cases the approach needs to be different. Many vocals have very distinct word pronunciation and phrasing, and if played in that manner can sound choppy and disconnected. It is easy to have the words going through your mind while playing, and to forget about what the listener is hearing. And in some cases that can mean extending phrases to reduce the amount of 'rest time' (which would be 'dead air' to the listener.

KNOW (see) what the next note is BEFORE you have to play it.
PLAY the next note 'on time' and 'in rhythm'.
Oh ya, watch the conductor - they set what is 'on time'.
