Hi everyone. Steve Patrick here with PATRICK mouthpieces. Some of you know me but many of you do not. I am a studio trumpet player that has been recording in Nashville for 26 years now. My background is more of a classical approach, but most people know me for my commercial work.
The last 26 years have honed my skills in a very diverse way to be able to make a living in all genres and musical situations.
Many people over the years have asked for lessons and most of the time I have not been available for this because of my schedule.
Obviously the last 7 months have changed that for me.
If you're interested in understanding my approach to being able to play the diversity of music that I have to approach and my approach to playing in general, I now have a series of 15 videos out that are around 17 min. long in average. They generally cover what would be covered in a 45 or 1 hr long lesson. They are available on my new website: www.lessonswithstudiomusicians.com
It's a work in progress along with the facebook page, instagram page, and youtube page. I hope that it's helpful to some of you that may be interested.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn from one of the best all around players in the business! I’ve known Steve for years and was lucky to learn from him numerous times. His approach is simple, easy to understand and made a big difference in my playing. If you want to learn how to play more efficiently, I highly recommend checking this out.

What a great option for any player wanting a straight forward approach to playing the trumpet. Steve is an outstanding player with a very well rounded and experienced background. He knows what he's talking about, and I've really enjoyed going through this video series. It's also great being able to easily go back and reference the video lessons. I highly recommend investing in what he has to offer.

I've begun the videos with Steve and they're excellent. They're very well presented with clear explanations. Video and sound quality is top notch. His friendly style and frequent demos on different horns adds a lot. He has info that will help players at every level. I highly recommend them.

Steve Patrick is a player. One of the best studio players I have heard and certainly the best in Nashville.

I watch the Nashville Christmas shows just to hear him!

Thanks guys for the compliments. I'll have some more promo videos up on youtube soon. For now I should probably do a better job explaining the product. There are 15 videos. They average a little over 15 min. each and it is about the amount of time that I would have with someone one on one for 10-12 hour long lessons.

They are approached almost as if a co-worker asked me how I was doing something physically when I am playing. So less telling you "this is how it's done, or this is how you have to play", and more, "this is what I'm doing physically when approaching this skill.

I did that purposefully thinking that it would be great for developing junior high, high school, and college players as well as professionals or weekend warriors. Since it's not completely rudimentary, it may not be the best for a total beginner, but a lot of the concepts would certainly keep a beginner from developing bad habits from the start. More videos soon.

I'll post some clips from sessions and more promos occasionally.
Here's one that shows a little day to day angst and requirement in the studio!

Here's a video from when my good friend George Tidwell (fellow studio musician trumpeter and mentor) came over and we were just messing around with some horns. I'll keep posting these on the new youtube site etc. along with random short clips that we have from the studio sessions that we do.

The night before recording Tim Aker's Smoking section song "Shake it off", Tim sent this one phrase to me to ask if it was playable at the recording tempo. This is the video that I sent him back. I told him that it was difficult, but playable. Most commercial trumpet players don't think too much about multiple tonguing. I believe that it's necessary for all of us no matter if we're classical musicians, or commercial musicians. I double tongued this entire phrase. Nothing was slurred.

Shout out to my friend and great composer Tyler Mire who we recorded this for about 5 years ago or maybe a bit more. All of you trumpet geeks learn some patience and listen all of the way through even though the clarinet soli! (it's quite good!) Some tasteless high notes at the end for a scream solo and the last note.. Haha.
