Oh BTW , the late mcgovnor (uber professional) wrote on TH:

It doesn't matter what players think about it. Scientifically, he is right. If you can simply lay down your ..ugh..idea about yourself, and your sarcasm and put down is duly noted, as feeble as it is, you will discover he is correct, whether you like the fact that he is correct, or not.

Some of you haven't done your homework, and likely you never will. I am not interested in convincing you in that case. You are likely not to bother to attempt to understand anything I write or check it out. But, you will disagree anyway.

My analysis and comments are intended for those who really are interested in how it works technically. (Which is wholly not required to play well). And for those who get NOTHING useful on how to approach playing but "its all about the airspeed" or "let the air do the work" or <insert trumpetspeak platitude here>.

I get encouraging emails too. From professionals and frustrated players alike.

The OP asked a pedagogical question. While your physics is quite the detailed (and accurate if one reads slowly and carefully) understanding of the system, it was a thesis on a topic not asked - and one that would perhaps not have been controversial if explained in layman's terms.

I am still looking for an answer to the OP's question - though it may be buried somewhere in this and I just missed it.

Is it so unreasonable to expect a trumpet forum to primarily speak to musicians, not physicists?

FRANCIS MAZIERS resurrected an old thread from 2007 with some legitimate interest and with a question SPECIFICALLY directed to me.

How things progressed and how Dave "contributed" can be inspected starting a couple of pages back.

Personally, I love Darryl's posts even though he usually disagrees with me in some way. I feel that he is extremely sincere in terms of wanting players to have correct and objectively supportable information even if it's technically complex for us laymen to understand/follow along fully.

When I look back on my education the teachers I value the most are those who challenged conventional thinking with well reasoned facts. It couldn't have been easy for them because we all want to be liked and challenging people is fraught with resistance.

Darryl gives us a lot of things to seriously think about. So, just speaking for myself, I'm happy he is here contributing to understanding this thing we all love: Trumpet.
