I wanted to start 2021 off with a bang, so I’m excited to announce the release of not one, not two, but THREE brand new books from yours truly and published by qPress Publishing!
All three books focus on the artistry of both Joe Magnarelli and John Swana. Both Mags and Swana have been on board with the project from day one to ensure that these books represent their playing as accurately as possible. It was really cool to team up with these two legends for this project! Anybody who digs Mags and Swana will LOVE these books. Here is the link to check them out:

Thanks, Craig!
I now have all three books and have been working through them slowly today on my EVI!
I don't know Joe, but I have known John for probably 35 years and he is positively one of the most amazing jazz trumpeters out there today.
There's a Criss Cross album of John's with Tom Harrell and the two of them playing together is possibly some of the burning-est conversational back-and-forth trumpet artistry anywhere.
It's Criss Cross Jazz 1055 CD, John Swana And Friends with John Swana, Tom Harrell, Billy Pierce (tenor), Mulgrew Miller (piano), Ira Coleman (bass) and Billy Drummond (drums).
If you still need to be persuaded that John is possibly the baddest out there, you might want to have that CD.
Close to 30 years ago Claudio Roditi told me that he thought John was the best jazz trumpet player on the scene, and that might still hold true. _________________ Visit my funk band page |

Thanks Rich, I'm so happy to hear you are digging the books! That Swana and friends album has been a favorite of mine for almost 20 years now. I can still remember when i got that album in college and hearing it for the first time, just sitting there with my jaw wide open in disbelief. _________________ "Run towards your problems, not from them"

Thank you, Craig! That's a good job.
I also bought all three books. I'll study. _________________ Conn 20A - 28A - 37A - 38B - 80A
