I dig the products but with altering the products and prices that much a used Lotus mouthpiece looses quite much of its worth in one moment. The Nickel-Plus-Version in Germany did cost 235€! If this is the same with the horns then I will be happy that I didn't shell out 5+K Euro to buy a horn in 2020 that will be old with the start of 2021. |
It's definitely annoying for those of us that bought their mouthpieces for twice as much last year, especially when I was going to sell one of them that I have hardly ever touched. |

I don’t know about all that, but I’ve been waiting over a week to a response on an email. Kind of frustrating. |

FWIW, Lotus got back with me and after some discussion I went ahead and ordered a 2L in brass.
I imagine it'll take a little while to arrive but once it does I'll do a hard comparison to the Monette B3S3 I have, if anyone is interested. |

Thanks for the heads up about the new ones and the price reduction.
I am happily playing a 2L for quit some time, but I now also ordered a 2M.
Hopefully they will offer short shank flugelmouthpieces soon (only long shank for now), cause I'm really curious about them. _________________ Trumpet : Yamaha YTR-9335CHS + Yamaha YTR-6335H

Yep...It's hard to wait. Based on his description I'd be surprised if they can salvage the pieces? But then again, I don't know much about the process/precision involved. |

They would have to remove all the unwanted stuff on the inside without altering the profile of the throat and backbore, then plate again... Not easy and probably expensive.
I’m afraid they pushed a bit too much on reducing the production costs... |

That's my fear as well. No idea when they started making these pieces, but imagine it'll be a long delay if they have to begin again. |

If the excess internal silver plating, and the debris can be removed and have the mouthpieces retain desirable playing characteristics, then perhaps they can be saleable. Maybe as cosmetic 2nds.
Not having perfect silver plating on the non-contact portions of the interior would require a little more user maintenance. I use a Q-tip on interior of my mpc after every session.
I hope a satisfactory solution can be found. _________________ Most Important Note ? - the next one !

I waited four months for mine.
I'm more patient now than I was...at lest I think so. |

Does anyone know the update of the situation? I’d rather ask here first as opposed to writing Lotus an email as I imagine they’re swamped at the moment. _________________ Sima, Kanstul 1525 Flugel and Kanstul pocket trumpet. Olds Super |

I have a small update. Apparently they are going to be able save almost all of them. Starting yesterday they anticipated "fixing" around 250 per day. The first batch of fixed pieces is suppose to head to the shipping place today (Friday). |

I emailed Charles a couple of days ago...this is the positive-sounding response:
"Adam has reported that all issues with the plating process have been resolved. No mouthpieces were thrown away and the word "repaired" is actually too strong. They simply hadn't been properly finished in the first place and are 100% fresh mouthpieces. Adam also took advantage of the production pause to incorporate a final aesthetic design tweak to the outer bowl that we'd planned to do a few months from now. They look SUPER SWEET and, sorry, no spoilers;) We get the first 100 mthpcs today (250 per day after) and they get sent right out to the shipping company.
We have a TON of orders to go through and we expect to be caught up within around 10 business days. We even added another person to the shipping team to help speed things up.
**Please keep in mind that the international shipping is in chaos at the moment due to the virus having sent pilots and postal workers home sick all over the planet.
We haven't to date suffered many unusual delays but as we have proven with these mouthpieces, anything is possible.
We are very excited to FINALLY, TRULY be underway and hope your wait was worth it.
Remember our super friendly refund policy of full refunds minus shipping as long as you take care of the mouthpiece before deciding within 2 weeks or so.
We also will exchange one model for another only for the cost of shipping within 2 weeks or so if you think you need something juuuuuuust a bit different.
For complete refund/exchange policy details: https://www.lotustrumpets.com/shipping-returns" |

I certainly hope not! What part of the story don’t you trust? That they could cleanly save the original pieces? Or the timeframe? |

Well, the time frame first, it never sounds good when a "tomorrow" gets pushed back. But I am also confused about them saying that it is only a minor finishing issue and then mentioning "modifying the outer bowl": why on earth would you make a merely aesthetic modification to hundreds of mouthpieces that are already sold and already late on delivery? Also, this does not look like a "minor" job at all: how can you take that stuff out of the inside of the mouthpiece without removing the plating? |
