Was informed that John passed away this weekend from heart complications. John owned the "Calicchio" brand having worked for Dominic then purchasing it from Chris. Got to know John through Tulsa Band (where he was Paul's repair man) , then John purchased the Calicchio brand and tooling and moved the Calicchio operation from California to Tulsa. John was the nicest individual and I got to hear people like Chuck Findley play test John's creations. WOW ! John's in-house playtester Dave Johnson is a monster player as well. How his Double C's echoed off those walls ! Sadly, John had to close up shop and move to Oregon to try to keep Calicchio alive. His final stop was in Kansas City working for BAC . We seem to be losing so many "Links" to the past and the rich heritage of American horn builders. We will miss you John ! |

Just got the news... Can't express how lost & devastating it feels to lose John.
He's been speaking of retirement from about a decade ago. Stayed with us until his last days... one of the nicest & greatest people I've known. Helped me so much. I've been looking forward to ordering a totally new horn from him but the road ends here. So suddenly...
May he rest in peace. Beautiful memories.
Really wanted to see him in person one day.
