I used a Wedge 65MD for about 2 years. Great and comfortable, but lining up the proper orientation became a hassle for my 83/84 year old chops while playing in the band so I eventually made a change to a conventional round mp.

Outside of the added orientation element, I didn't love the tone when I tried them. So, it didn't seem like a trial to continue with.

Anecdotally, I played a quintet gig recently where the second trumpeter was using a Wedge mouthpiece. He did sound great. Said he had switched to help work on a chop issue. At the end of the gig while chatting, he pulled out his Bach 1.5C and played a couple notes - I liked his sound on that better.

We're all different. Some players love them, some don't.
It all comes down to tone, articulation, pitch, accuracy, and endurance. Does it work for you? Is it the best choice for you?

Tried a Chuck Findley model, doesn't work for me. Tried both orientations.

Been playing them for 15 years. Love them.
In fact, you get a free Wedge when you buy one of my trumpets!

One of the good things for me was that I could use a Wedge and go back and forth between it and a conventional mouthpiece without disturbing the embouchure. I no longer use the Wedge regularly, but I do use it every once in awhile because I love the tone it gives me.

In my case, Robert, I loved it the minute I first put it to my chops. Unfortunately, for my old chops, dead center placement of the dot is absolutely essential. If I was off just a tad one way or the other, everything would fall apart. I'm sure I wouldn't have this problem if I was younger.
