Does anyone know the difference between the CTR 5000-L YST and YSS models? Thank you in advance! CB site doesn't list the YSS model.

As I remember, the three letters are material/bell profile/weight, so I think this is yellow brass and standard bell and standard weight. I think often the 5000 comes with the light (thin?) bell for more pop (I guess standard weight would give more projection?). The L means large bore. Most trumpets now are probably ML bore, but some folk like large bore or medium bore instead.

I have several of their trumpets, including one with this bell profile, and I like them all.

YST=Yellow brass, small taper (37), thin gauge
YLT= Yellow brass, large taper (72), thin gauge

I believe the "L" stands for lacquer.

The are the same except the YST has a lighter weight bell, and the YSS has a heavier bell.

YST vs YSS is quite a difference. As noted previously, that third letter is the bell stock thickness. YST starts out with .016" brass (about as thin and light as anyone would use), while YSS starts out as .024" (one thousandth less than the current standard weight stock for a Bach bell).

A dealer in Italy has posted Carol's model number decoder here:

Thank you everyone! I bought a 5000-YSS off reverb, seems it will be a good fit for me, currently playing a ML benge 3x that has seen better days.

Great! Enjoy! I think it is probably the main ML bore one (I think their large bore is the 5002). I think that's their most popular model and I hope it's a great match.
