I am a former student of Steve Emery, who teaches at Boston Conservatory and NEC. I studied with him after completing an MM at Boston University and his guidance was pivotal at that stage in my development. I recently interviewed him in anticipation of a website project that he is developing, which will provide high quality videos on a wide-ranging series of topics, along with an interactive component. The site will be of use for students of all ages and stages of their career, including seasoned professionals. Steve's perspective on teaching and learning is unique and philosophically grounded. Anyone who has worked with him can attest to his incisiveness as a teacher and his tremendous abilities as a trumpet player.

Please enjoy this (long) interview if you are curious about Steve Emery's thoughts on trumpet playing, life, and art. And stay tuned this summer for the launch of a new online project!
