I have made a personal commitment to help a small K - 8 school with it's band program, which will return in August. I would like to get 6 good cornets and or trumpets to the school for kids whose families cannot afford a horn.

If you would be willing to offer up a good horn for a student, message me.

I will put you in direct contact with the School Administrator. You will ship directly to her (Chicago suburbs). She will send a receipt for a charitable donation to you.

I will donate a good horn as well (Olds Ambassador). If we can get 6 horns without me donating, I will donate a selection of 10 ish mouthpieces. I will clean all horns in both soapy water and 99% IPA.

We all love trumpets and cornets. I hope that there are 6 of us that might have the ability to help the next generation love them as much as us. If you donate, imagine it is your child or grandchild receiving it, and let that be your guide.

I hope I am not offending anyone. Giving to kids that don't have all of the financial support at home is an interest of mine as much as playing. Music is important to child development, and it is so easily eliminated.

Mike

Nice!

I have done this in the past on an individual level, but it is nice to see someone organizing something larger.

I'd also note that often you can find good student horns the local classified websites for very cheap, so if there's someone who would like to support this cause but doesnt currently have a good used horn to offer, know that you can find one very easily with a small investment, and if you then put a bit of effort into cleaning and tuning it up before shipping it out, you could gift some child with a very serviceable horn.

I should have mentioned, the school has some cases for both cornets and trumpets, so a case isn't critical.

Bumping this back up for the weekend, then I won't again. Hoping I can get 1 or 2 more people to help out. Thank you!
