bump.
Also a note that I have been able to add the details for my Yamaha trumpets to this by emailing Yamhah UK with the serial numbers, who then asked Japan HQ.
Perhaps they'd get annoyed if we all did this, but if you really want to know, Yamaha UK are really good with replying and helping out when I asked. |

I've further updated the SERIAL NUMBER database submission form.
The more instruments I look at, the more identifying feature and patterns I'm picking up, so I've added more questions to reflect this.
The SERIAL NUMBER survey now asks for the following information:
Model Number - I'm looking at how each model is indicated, whether "S" for silver plate is used consistently or not, etc
Model Number "Yamaha" stamp - I've noticed that at some time around 1982 when the 4 digit model numbers where introduced the "Yamaha" stamp above the model number appears to be deleted. Does this coincide with the beginning of stamping "Yamaha" on the instruments bells? Is the Yamaha stamp only on the Professional level horns?
Serial Number
Current Finish - I'm hoping this aligns and helps clarify the model number stampings
Receiver/Leapipe Stampings - This seems to switch depending on whether and instrument was built in Japan or assembled in the USA. It is my understanding that the US has laws about marking whether a product is made / assembled in or outside of the US. I have already noticed some "A" assembled in the US horns with "Made in Japan" Receivers... Did parts supply get lazy or is it just inconsistent?
Location of Manufacture - this is similar to the question above. This stamp is usually found on the bottom left hand side of the 2nd valve but varries of the higher pitched instruments.
Bell Stampings / Engraving - This ties in with the "Yamaha" stamp on the valve casing. I'm hoping to find a correlation between when one was deleted and the other used.
Year purchased NEW - This will obviously help us finally work out approximate production dates of a particular model.
Location purchased NEW - This is just a general interest question although it may reveal if a particular model was only available in a specific market
Year purchased USED - knowing when the instrument may have exchanged ownership as a used one, means the NEW production date must be prior to this date.
CURRENT location - This is just a general interest question although it may reveal if a particular model was only available in a specific market.
Photographs Supplied - (OPTIONAL) I am now asking for photographs with model/serial numbers. These will help validate the accuracy of the data collected.
Note that a serial number may appear on the database more than once. This will allow the movement of instruments to be tracked globally. I find it interesting that an instrument might have started it life in Japan, been sold to the US and then finally make its way to the UK.
Cheers and keep submitting those serials. |

Does anyone know where this spreadsheet resides now? All the links are broken. I would like to see it if it still exists. _________________ Bb: Schilke X3L AS SP, Yamaha YTR-6335S

I found the Yamaha Loyalist site. Can anyone get the serial number list to load? When I visit the page:
https://adamgmalone4.wixsite.com/website-1/serialstrumpet
the page says "Loading" but nothing ever loads. _________________ Bb: Schilke X3L AS SP, Yamaha YTR-6335S

Don't know if this project is still ongoing, but I have a more unusual horn to add in.

The trumpet serial number submission page for Yamaha Loyalist / Collector is presently located here, but it does not work for me. The OP has not posted on TH since 2018, but the Facebook page still seems have content added regularly... |

I've tried Safari and Firefox. I can't get the serial number data -- I get the headings -- to display. _________________ Yamaha YTR 734
