Episode #346

https://youtu.be/3YGCE-GliyU

In the composer's words "Please take these. Play them if you wish. Free of charge. Because everyone should get one."

This project is dedicated to the memory of those lost during the pandemic, and the hope that these vaccines provide in allowing us to return to "normalcy". Music has the power to bring us together, to soothe, to inspire. As we emerge from this lost year, musicians will be an enormous part of the healing process. This is a good place to start. Thank you, Jim Stephenson.

One thing I always notice is how efficient your fingers are, never leaving the valve tops. Really comes into play in something like this. Great stuff.

Mr. Wilt,

Thank you for these videos! Not only does your playing inspire me to strive for improvement (even at my advanced age,) but it has also exposed me to some truly wonderful material for practice and sight-reading. I have tracked down nearly every collection that you've used.

I'm hopeful you'll be performing for a packed concert hall and can abandon the video camera in the near future. All the best to you...

Ben

Applause. That was great and very "con espressivo." I love the varied expression and the consistent tone all over the horn.

Wonderful as usual. These Snedecor pieces are really special etudes. As sorry as I am to see that there are only 15 episodes left, I am happy for you to get back to work with the LA Phil. Thank you for sharing your magnificent playing. I hope you will leave these videos up for us all to refer to as we work on our playing!
Nice intro too.

Once again you demonstrate that so 'dolce' singing quality. "The way you play today" - and all other days, with that lovely delicate/tender yet firm and so beutifully acticulated sound - is precicely the sound I strive for myself.
And thanks a lot for guiding us through this pandemic - also demonstrating the triumph of mind over matter! To keep one´s spirit willing in these times isn´t that easy!
Your example has helped me practice almost every day! Always something there to strive for!!

Both a marvelous etude and a marvelous performance of it. Even after all these etudes, you can still surprise me with and even more wonderful execution that extracts the music. Wonderful work.
