Hi everybody; I hope we are all doing well. Today I am offering as a free download, some of the finest studies ever written for trumpet. These are the Schlossberg interval studies. I have adapted and expanded them for intermediate level students, all the while keeping the integrity of the original studies. You and your students will get hours of enjoyment and success with these wonderful studies. Here is an excerpt from the introduction of
The Complete Schlossberg Intervals.

Daily Drills & Technical Studies by Max Schlossberg is one of the staples of modern trumpet pedagogy. It’s use by university instructors and private teachers is extensive and may only be surpassed by Arban and Clarke. The book however was not actually written by Schlosberg and is somewhat incomplete, most notably in its most creative and interesting sections; Intervals and Octave Drills. Also, many of these beautiful and artistic studies are not accessible for the intermediate level player due to range considerations and there is little instructional guidance. It is for these reasons that I have created this addendum, utilizing selected exercises from #38 – 55. All said there are 22 exercises on 25 pages presented progressively beginning with their lowest possible key and continuing upward to Schlossberg’s original key. This makes these wonderful studies playable for many more players.

I haven't gotten into Schlossberg for some of the reasons you give, but I will now. Thank you so much! |

I like the way the interval studies have structured the dynamics. Its easier getting louder from the bottom to the top but challenging to play them the other way around. |

Very much appreciated!
So many on this site could benefit from these studies if they would stop posting, take these free samples, and practice them.

Eric! Also worth mentioning/underlining : the progressivity per se! Many etudes, scales begin the other way around, starting up high. I.e I spent a huge portion of my muscial life practicing Colins´ advanced flexibilities and they do just that. When I finally took lessons one of my faults was a somewhat "pinched" embouchure.
Jeff Smiley (BE) stresses the importance of progressitivity - since I began using his method I´ve tried to turn the studies of other schools upside down - finding that this provides a much more solid foundation. I´ve used the Scholssberg studies prior to your tweaking, finding them laborious and worthwile, but somehow more as a testing ground for what I´ve gained from other studies. Now they work in a much diffrerent way! So thanks a lot for your no doubt strenous work!
Then it´s it, per se, an interesting question, this progressivity; How come that so many studies are written in the not progressive way???
