Looking for information regarding JW York & Son Cornet specifically the Perfec-Tone. I recently purchased one and would be curious to learn more about these types of early 20th c. instruments. There is a mechanism for what appears to quickly push the slide in. The inner slides have indented with L.P. markings (probably tuning to low pitch?). Any historical information on how to approach these horns would be appreciated. Mine dates back to 1912. I'l also interested in learning what appropriate mouthpiece would have come with this horn as well.

I have an "Improved Perfect" and it has a removable straight section that gets it jto play in "C". All the finger slides have 2 marks. All the way in is for C and then Bb and A.

I had a couple perfect tones in the past. I don't believe theere is a section to pull and there is p[robably one mark on each slide. At any rate the last line is for A.

Just use a tuner and adjust them accordingly.

The PerfectTone has a nice sound for sure. They made great horns!!

I have an old Perfectone. It came with an "Al-Tru" mouthpiece, marked "York & Sons" and "0".

It sounds very nice.
