Man what a great recording!

And yes Steve's stuff ROCKS. So glad folks will be able to try out his stuff at ITG, it deserves to be tried, fitted, etc.

Regarding the Patrick CR5ZM... Old thread, but new experience here that still fits the thread.

I recently tried a Patrick 5ZM cup in acrylic and enjoyed it very much. That went to a friend (thank you, Heather), but I was so impressed that I found a like new, one piece Patrick CR5ZM here at TH, and it's proving to be a great piece indeed.

I have played Reeves 41 pieces (and rims) for a few years; this Patrick 5 seems quite similar in feel. This would also make it a size similar to a Bach 7 rim, Warburton 6, or Yamaha 11 for those wondering.

While I think this piece has a 28 drill, it is NOT stuffing me - and most tight 28 drills are unworkable for me.

This piece has some of the qualities of a favored Doc Sev piece, and I'm pretty sure it's a take on an old Jettone. The rim is inifinitely more comfortable, the mouthpiece is deeper (but still commercial I think). All in all, I'm thrilled with this piece. It's deep enough that I can get a nice, sparkling tone without being strident, yet it enables me to achieve my upper range easily. I'd call it a very well-balanced mouthpiece.
