Hey everyone. Does anyone here have experience playing on all-on-4 dentures? Can it be done?

Can anyone recommend a Chicago area dentist who is knowledgeable about trumpet players and our concerns?

I won't bother to tell the whole story of how we got here, but suffice it to say I have some missing teeth, 10 of my baby teeth still hanging around, and things are starting to progress toward the point of planning for dramatic intervention.

If it's possible at this point, by all means, have a cast of your teeth made before any work gets done. This will help the dentist reconstruct your mouth as it was before work changes things.

I got this tip from a fellow musician who endured a serious car accident. He'd not known of this before the accident, so his dentist could not reconstruct his dental structure as it was pre-accident. The friend spent a lot of time regaining his embouchure.

Contact the trumpet and horn players in the Chicago Symphony for their take on local dentists that might be familiar with work on brass musicians.

About nine months ago I had the upper front four teeth crowned. I made no attempt to copy the natural teeth, in fact I specifically asked the dentist to give me a "Hollywood" smile which meant shortening slightly the length of the two front teeth. I could play immediately after the crowns were put on but it took 3 months to get back to playing pretty good.

Playing better than ever at present with solid DD's.

I found it very difficult if not almost impossible to play with an upper plate until I got it anchored by implants, your mileage may vary.
