NP3 absolutely changed my arranging and composing experience and motivation for it. For the money, the ease of use, and support, and loading speed, nothing out there is better. _________________ —Bach Omega

Good sounds, nice imitation of a brass band. The preciseness of the dotted eighth and sixteenth note rhythms, especially when the dotted eights are held out, sounds unnatural. I don't think you would hear a live band playing that way, but, not bad for computerized music. It could certainly pass as being a real band by non musicians.

I recall how happy I was with Garritan upgrade, and I've certainly gotten good use of it. But I'm definitely intrigued with NP3. Too early to tell if I'll like it for all things. If you check the NotePerformer 3 YouTube channel, they've got some great samples of what an orchestra sounds like. Here's a YouTube from a guy who includes the XML and Sibelius files in links he provides to the Star Wars Suite:

Very nice. It seems NP3 does particularly well with orchestral ensembles and the NP website has many examples of that. What I've not yet heard are other sorts of ensembles and the website doesn't seem to cover them.
A minor quibble is that to my ears NP3 seems to apply reverb by default which feels a bit like cheating and I can see times when I wouldn't want that. Do you know if that's something that can be altered?

No apologies necessary. I totally get it. Lol. You can change the level of reverb in Sibelius (and I assume Finale). However, I think the sounds were designed with that level of reverb. When you remove the reverb, it sounds astoundingly weird.

Here are two arrangements for double reed quartet. NotePerformer 3 is able to play notes beyond the natural range of the instruments, so I took advantage of that particularly for the bassoon.
I really like how NP3 handles dynamics and legato.
