|
|
I've been practicing my restoration techniques on a old Besson Stratford I picked up for next to nothing. I smoothed out the Bell and smoothed a couple of dents. When I finish the smoothing, I want to take off the old lacquer, polish up the horn, and then apply new lacquer.
Couple questions:
1. Is this a good plan?
2. What lacquer should I use?
Thanks! |

Nicholas Lacquer (cellulose) in a spray can from Ferree's Tools.
PS Not a good plan

If you are hoping for a like new finish, you will need to invest in some buffing equipment. Trying to do a hand polish with lacquer will have a dull look.
You might consider a scratch finish on the body with polished slide crooks. They are small enough to buff on simple equipment. Then lacquer. |
