Hi all, I have an Olds Ambassador Cornet (Fullerton) that was given to me. It plays OK, no dents and wrinkles surprisingly, but the felt has seen better days and even the springs do not look good. I was perusing ebay and it seems there are "tune up" kits available for it. Are these decent? Any other places to buy kits like these? Thank you. |

Check your local repair shops. They should have felts and springs and water key constant should work. Note that the Olds horns use green felts. Conns use red. 😀 |

Asked Austin Custom Brass about the replacement springs they sell in their online store and whether any of them would fit an Olds Recording. Their response was no, and they recommended eBay.
The kits aren't that expensive so if you can verify that the seller actually knows a thing or 2 about trumpets, you're probably fine. Olds Ambassadors are rather common so it's a reasonable assumption that the valve kits have been tested. |

You would be better off taking it to a good shop. The felts need to be adjusted for valve alignment. Otherwise the horn wont play its best. You would be better off just leaving them as they are if you dont want to have it looked at. |
