Does anyone know whether a phosphor bronze leadpipe and tuning slide could develop red rot? I understand the process where zinc leeches out of brass, wondering if that happens with bronze.

Well - they shouldn't since phosphor bronze generally does not have any zinc in it - bronze is an alloy of copper and tin - but some bronzes can also have trace amounts of other elements - such as phosphor or "beryllium".
They make ocean going ship propellers out of the stuff. |

Found this discussion on red rot and phosphor bronze on the site SaxOnTheWeb.
And on Wikipedia there is an article titled bronze disease. |
