How many of you do a dedicated warm up on flugelhorn as opposed to just picking it up after your trumpet warm up? I'm talking about VC air flow studies, lip slurs, multiple tonguing and the like.
Thank you,

I wouldn't call what I do a warm up, but I do make sure that I practice on the Flugel enough to stay familiar with it.. (the same as all my other horns).
I do find that if I begin with some very soft playing on Flugel (or Cornet) that I get into the approach and sound I want more quickly and regularly.
I "warm-up" primarily on my Bb trumpet, then branch out as desired.
Warming up is really a short period of time (can be moments to several minutes, unless my chops are really beat up or otherwise uncomfortable)... review and practice is the focus and the body of time. _________________ Freelance Performer/Educator
