Here's a video I'd never seen of Chet with a rather square community band. This was probably not Chet's favorite setting for soloing (hahaha), but man, he still sounded great! Especially on Moonlight Serenade (the 2nd tune @ 7:40). Dig:

Pretty nice! Nice to hear him playing on top of a band like that, also the zoom ins on his birkenstocks were funny.

The amazing thing about that, is Chet can play with an okay band like that, and still swing.

I think the sound quality isn't doing them any favors. It sounds like a VHS tape with some warped audio. I would imagine in the audience it was an enjoyable concert.

I can understand Chet showing up in jeans and a sweater but the dude on the opposite side was wearing WHITE SOCKS WITH A TUX!

Chet sounds great. No surprise

The fact he sounds great, and plays so tastefully over the situation set him even further apart from the rest of the great players of our instrument

I really enjoyed this.

Thanks !

Chet plays great here. It is clear that he just loves music.

It is also notable how well he plays along with another trumpet player, working to complement him, not compete with him. It is all about making good music.

I loved the playing of Summertime. Chet distills the essence of a song.
